The First Multiply Peaked Parallax Microlensing Event

• OGLE-1999-BUL-19 (also known as BUL_SC40 2895 in Difference Image Photometry - DIA - catalog) is the first microlensing event, in which the effects of parallax are strong enough to produce multiple peaks in the light curve. Full details of model fitting and interpretation are in the paper by Smith, Mao, Wozniak et al. (2002, MNRAS submitted). Investigation of the blend structure using image subtraction techniques (Gould and An, 2002, ApJ, 565, 1381) reveals possible lens detection, however extreme crowding does not allow a definite answer without an HST observation. Direct detection of the lens in a parallax event enables full solution of microlensing equations, including masses and distances.
